My Experience

My Experience

Over the past couple of months, I have learned so much creating content for my beauty blog. I’ve learned how to write being unapologetically myself as well as how to create quality content while sharing my favorite beauty products. As I continue my blogging journey I hope to incorporate uplifting content, since I believe self love is important to find within first.

I promoted my blog post through my Twitter as well as shared them with family members and friends. I feel as if I would’ve promoted my blog through my Instagram consisting of 2,525 followers, I could have reached a much bigger audience. Blogging is something I am still getting comfortable with, but do plan on growing with more in the future.

The experience that was most surprising for me was when I was on my way to class, pulled out my phone and saw that I had gained three new followers after my first website review. I didn’t expect to have viewers so soon. It made me very happy to know my blog post was being taken seriously. One of my aspirations in life is to create my own beauty line or products, and I feel as if blogging about what I love most will grant me the opportunity to reach a bigger audience.

As a Public Relations major it is very important to have written and verbal communication skills. Blogging has improved my AP writing skills, as well as taught me what quality content and pictures are. I’ve also learned to use my creativity with everything I do.

The week I received the most views and visitors was February 25, 2019 – March 3, 2019. I received a total of  26 views and 6 visitors. My most viewed post was Five Best Drugstore Lipsticks, which received 14 total views and two likes. I think this post was my most popular because it included not only affordable but quality formula lipsticks. What was most memorable was getting the opportunity to create content that I’ve never done before. It is no longer a task for my FDOM class but something I would like to continue in my free time. This is something I’ve grown to love and can’t wait to see where it leads me. Unfortunately, there are no other stats I have to share.

Overall my FDOM experience was amazing. I enjoyed learning new skills this year that will not only grow my brand, but will also be implemented into my career. FDOM allowed me to challenge myself while having fun at the same time. I have never taken a class that allows you to learn so much in a short amount of time. I have definitely grown as an individual prepping for my career, and can’t wait to use these skills in the near future.

My Five Step Simple Everyday Look

My Five Step Simple Everyday Look

Before starting my busy day, I love to implement these five steps into my morning routine. I think it is very important to not only look, but feel your best. As I mentioned in my first blog post, your appearance isn’t everything but it does have an affect on your overall mood.

1. $34.00 Too Faced Hangover Primer

I love starting off by priming my face with the Too Faced Hangover Primer. It has a wonderful sent and makes my skin feel refreshed. It is infused with hydrating coconut water and can also be worn alone or with makeup.

2. $27.00 Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

Moving on to coverage, I take the Tarte Shape Tape concealer and cover my blemishes as well as conceal my under-eye bags. I prefer not to wear foundation on a daily basis because it can be a bit heavy on my skin.

3.$5.99  L.A Girl Pro Setting Powder

Once my concealer is applied to my under-eyes and blemishes, I take my L.A. Girl Pro Setting Powder and set my skin so my concealer doesn’t crease. This powder provides a matte finish and evens out my complexion.

4. $5.99 Milani Baked Blush

To add life back into my skin, I will then take my Milani Luminoso blush and put it on the apples of my cheeks. This is my all time favorite blush; I always get tons of compliments when I’m wearing it.

5. $6.99 Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara

The last thing I do is apply mascara to my lashes so that I look awake and ready for the day. This mascara is very affordable. If there was one product I couldn’t live without it would be my mascara. Unlike other mascaras, this one doesn’t clump my lashes.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my five-step everyday simple look. Again, the way you feel throughout the day has a huge toll on your mood. I encourage you to go out and find your everyday simple look to enhance a better mood throughout the day and most importantly love yourself. Thank you guys for taking time to read my blog post and don’t forget you can catch me on my Instagram @Brimichellllle or Twitter @Fdombrimichell1.

My Top Three Summer Essentials

My Top Three Summer Essentials

Skin glowing, lips glossy and skin bronzy. It’s that time of the year, summertime! The season we have all been waiting for is finally here. Today I want to discuss three essential products I love using during this time of year. All of the products I’ll be sharing today are affordable and lightweight for the summer sun.

1.Laura Geller Gilded Honey Highlighter  $26.00

The First product I want to share with you guys is the Laura Geller Gilded Honey Highlighter. This highlighter is beautiful on the skin and compliments all skin tones. It is known for its hybrid texture and for applying seamlessly to the skin. It’s one of the more pricer items I will be discussing, but it is definitely worth the investment.

2. Neutrogena Moistureshine Lip Soother Gloss 5.97

Now moving on to one of the most important things, keeping your lips hydrated and glossy at all times! I’m absolutely in love with the Neutrogena Moistureshine Lip Soother Gloss. This hydrates your lips and gives your lips a glossy finish so your lips don’t look dull. It contains SPF 20, cooling hydrogel and is made by Neutrogena which is dermatologist recommended.

3.  Maybelline SuperStay Multi-Use Foundation Stick $11.99

The product that I will forever be in love with and is also great for the summertime, is the Maybelline SuperStay Multi-Use Foundation Stick. This can be used for many different things such as concealing, applying foundation and for cream contour. I take a shade darker than my natural skin tone to contour my face and give myself definition. Unlike other foundation sticks that I’ve used, this one applies smoothly and doesn’t leave my skin patchy.

You do not want to start your summer without checking out one of these three products. These are far too refreshening and glamorous to pass up on. Again these are all affordable and lightweight for the summer. You cannot pass up not investing in products that will leave you glowy, glossy and bronzy. If you have any suggestions or requests please do not be hesitant to leave a comment. I would also love for you to follow me on Instagram @Brimichellllle or Twitter  @Fdombrimichell1.

Product Review: Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette

Product Review: Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette

Take your overall makeup look from a seven to a ten in minutes! It is known that eyeshadow can enhance your eyes leading to your finish look drastically. Whether you’re doing a vibrant, simple daytime, or evening look, eyeshadow can play a big role. Today I want to share my all time favorite eyeshadow palette, the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette.

The reason I love this palette so much is because it has a huge variety of vibrant colors, that can be used for any occasion. The colors blend so effortlessly. If you’re like me and sometimes have trouble with the consistency of colors in other palettes because of their formulas, Jaclyn made sure that every palette has the same consistency. The formula was absolutely perfect. She spent countless time working on her palette and it shows. The palette contains mattes, shimmers, satins, foils and glitter all in one. I actually used this Palette the day I graduated High School and my eyeshadow look came out absolutely stunning. If you would like to see how I did a Dark Smokey eye click the video down below and skip to 3:02!

Jaclyn’s palette retails for 38.00 dollars, which to me is an absolute deal. This palette contains a total of 35 shades, ranging from a vast variety for any occasion. Jaclyn named every shade in her palette according to the meaning or use behind them. Many times eyeshadow palettes are very expensive and do not contain the amount of colors or consistency that Jaclyn’s palette does. This prevents people from going out and buying them, which leads to people not being able create their unique art. Jaclyn put a stop to this and made it very affordable working with such an amazing and affordable brand. Morphe is known for their great quality and affordable pricing.

The only complaint I have is the convenience of the palette. I understand the palette has 35 different shades but sometimes it is hard to travel with such a big palette. I think maybe if the palette folded over or did something to make it easier to travel with that would be great. The Jaclyn Hill Palette is still my favorite.  I am in absolute love with it and I hope you as well can try it out yourself. Again this palette is so diverse and can be used to form any art you may be wanting to create. Thank you my beauties for your time and as always do not forget to check out my social media platforms for my most recent content, @Brimichellllle.

As promised, today I will be discussing the last skin type, combination skin! Many people rant about struggling with dry and even oily skin, however, some people have a combination of both as well. Blogger I Aspire To Be

Blogger I Aspire To Be

Today I have decided to switch it up and talk about someone who has truly inspired me, Michelle Lisette Beauty Blog. I never thought someone could make a nice blog about beauty products because Youtube is such a common source for information in the beauty industry. Michelle Lisette’s Beauty Blog demonstrates actual blog post over great content. The beauty Industry in the Blog world is so competitive, it is very hard to stand out. Engagement within your blog post is also something very hard to accomplish, but over time Michelle Listettes has improved because of her consistency and engaging with her audience.

I love how Michelle has a specific Instagram page constantly reminding her followers to check out her latest blog post on wordpress and promoting herself through multiple platforms. When someone goes to an Instagram page, it is very important for them to know exactly what your page is promoting. Michelle Lisette’s page also shows her specific beauty blog through Instagram.

Michelle Lisette’s WordPress account is also very organized. She has a tab for each topic in a specific category such as affordable beauties, drugstore discoveries, best of boxycharm reviews and hauls. Her page also contains an About Me tab which is very important. As your audience grows people want to know who you are. As I came across Michelle Lisette’s page that is the first thing I wanted to know. Her beauty blog stands out to me because of how organized and put together it is. This is something I aspire for mine to eventually become.

Michelle also surprised me because of her desire and aspiration to use cruelty-free products. She stated “At the end of spring 2018, I decided to go cruelty- free with all of my beauty purchases.”

This is something very hard to do, and inspiring to see someone in the makeup industry still work with the art of makeup but in a safer way. This made Michelle’s Beauty blog extremely unique. Michelle Lisette is doing an outstanding job with her social media platforms such as WordPress and Instagram. Her content is amazing and very interesting. Without further ado, I encourage you to go check out Michelle Listte’s Instagram as well as her Beauty Blog if you want to see content like mine.

Foundations for Dry Skin

Foundations for Dry Skin

No Matter your skin type, complexion or blemishes there is a foundation for you! As promised I will be sharing my favorite foundations for dry skin. I personally do not have dry skin, but I do know of great foundations specifically designed for dry skin from past experience.

I once believed that I had dry skin. I noticed on the sides of my nose and beneath my nostrils I would continuously have peeling, it looked as if I hadn’t moisturized in weeks. I even went out and bought the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer. I would spend lots of money on high end products trying to fix the “dry” areas of my skin, including expensive hydrating foundations. I was so frustrated because no matter what I did, I truly felt no product was going to help my skin. I talked to my mom about it and we decided to make an appointment to the doctor so I could get a referral to the dermatologist. My doctor assumed I had eczema and gave me a prescribed medication cream. I put it on the next day before school and oh my goodness, it was the worst. I remember going home that day crying because of how irritated my skin was. I went back to the doctor and she was shocked my skin had reacted the way it did. She gave me a referral to see a dermatologist and when I went I told the dermatologist everything that had been going on and she told me I had “Seborrheic Dermatitis”. Seborrheic Dermatitis is when your skin makes an excessive amount of oil and gets trapped in your T-zone causing your skin to be very flaky and could even cause red patches if not treated correctly. I learned that in order to keep my skin healthy I needed to wash it twice a day with an oil free face wash and moisturize with an oil control moisturizer. So trust me I’ve tried almost every product you can think of while trying to figure out my skin.

  1. NARS sheer glow foundation- 47.00

The NARS sheer glow foundation is absolutely stunning. It leaves such a hydrating and sheer finish. It also color corrects as you wear it and contains glycerin so it hold moisture into your skin. It contains vitamin C acting as a brightness and is made to look as if you aren’t even wearing a full face of makeup. It is a very buildable foundation that does not look heavy if you apply a few layers.

  2. BORN THIS WAY foundation- 39.00

The BORN This way foundation is medium to full coverage, it contains                     Hyaluronic Acid causing your skin to look younger. It also has coconut water infused to help rejuvenate the skin without over hydrating. Many influencers and even personal friends rave and love this foundation.

All my beauties out there, please do not give up on your skin. Never stop creating your form of art because you have not found the perfect foundation. Trust me, it takes time. Instead of spending money on foundations you are unsure of, go ahead and ask for a sample. Sephora would be more than happy to assist you. Again these are my favorite two foundations for oily skin. Make sure to keep up with my social media platforms, as well as stay tuned for my next blog post.

Foundations for Oily Skin

Foundations for Oily Skin

As I was thinking about what I wanted my blog post to be about this week, it dawned on me that before we move into the extra attributes of makeup we must figure out what skin type we have and what the best fit for our skin is. Think and ask yourself “is my skin oily or dry?”. If you don’t know that’s okay, just try and figure out if your skin tends to become oily or more dry throughout the day. Some of you may even have a combination skin type. Now for everyone who answered oily, lucky you, I have a surprise for you! Today I am so excited to be discussing my favorite matte foundations for oily skin. Don’t worry my next one will go out to everyone with dry skin and lastly combination.

Why does it matter if my skin is oily, dry or a combination of both?

Good question. The base of your makeup is your foundation. Besides primer and of course skincare! If your skin tends to be a lot more oily, you’re going to want to use a matte foundation so it makes your oily skin have a more matte look. If your skin is dry you’re going to want to use a hydrating foundation, so that your dry skin is filled with a moisturizing and hydrating base. Now for combination skin you’re going to want to use a foundation that has a satin finish liquid foundation, this will help your dry areas have moisture and your oily areas not look extremely glossy.

  1. Fenty Foundation 34.00

I love the Fenty Foundation by Rihanna, this is my absolute favorite one. This foundation is on the pricey side but it is one hundred percent worth it. It comes in so many different shades and that is what I love most. I have finally found a foundation that is my exact skin tone. There are fifty shades total. This foundation leaves a Pro Filter Soft Matte look, and is easy to build to a medium to full coverage look. It is also oil free and is made with climate adaptive technology which means it will not move when you sweat.

Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

    2. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro- Matte 12.99

The L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte foundation is such a inexpensive and great foundation. Everytime I wear this foundation out I get complimented by so many people, and I promise I’m not lying. This foundation is lightweight and goes on seamlessly to the skin causing a very even skin complexion and it last up to twenty four hours.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible, foundation

I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try one of these amazing products. If you have any recommendations please leave a comment down below. Stay tuned for my next blog post where I will discuss foundations for dry skin.

Five Best Drugstore Lipsticks

Five Best Drugstore Lipsticks

Many people think you must spend a fortune on high end products to feel and look your best, but that is false. The beauty that is shown throughout a person comes within you. It first starts with your attitude and then becomes the product and the way you apply it. There are tons of great drugstore and affordable options out there and I’m so excited to be sharing with you some of my favorite ones.

  1. NYX Professional Monte Carlo Lip Cream 3.52

The first affordable lipstick is a NYX professional, vibrant lip paint,in the shade Monte Carlo. This lip paint can easily be removed and does not dry your lips out. It is lightweight but leaves a very opec finish.

It does not dry out your lips and leaves a very nice finish. It also comes with a pro sculpt applicator leaving you the freedom to create any lip structure you would like.

4. Milani Lip Intense Liquid color Pink Rave 3.00

The Milani Lip Intense Liquid color in the shade Pink Rave, is such a vibrant and fun color to play with. This lipstick has a shiny gloss finish but has the equivalence to a non transfer lipstick. It has a sponge applicator which is easy to use. It is also cruelty free.

5. Revlon 710 HD Dessert 7.97

This lip balm contains all the pigment but none of the weight. This lightweight formula instantly hydrates my lips and leaves a confident and opaque look. This lip product contains hyaluronic acid which ensures to leave lips feeling moisturized.

All of these lipsticks are creative and unique in their own way. Each tells a different story and an affordable one too. Some drugstore products are the best ones out there, the people behind these products put countless hours creating these formulas so everyone can feel their beauty shine. Each one of these can be found at your local drugstore or Ulta.

Welcome post

Welcome post

Hi everyone, my name is Briana Rodriguez and I am a Freshman at Texas State University. I am majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Fashion Merchandise. I have always had a creative mind when it came to beauty. I love every aspect that ties in to makeup and fashion. In my blog I will be talking about beauty products that are affordable, high-end and also the latest trends.

I chose to blog about beauty products because who doesn’t love makeup? Let’s be real everyone wants to feel and look their best. When you take time out of your busy schedule to fix yourself up for the day, it is actually very therapeutic. It relieves stress and turns your whole attitude into something positive, at least for me it does. Listen, life is too beautiful to waste and not be completely satisfied with yourself. I am not saying your looks are everything but they do have a big influence on your overall mood.

I hope to explore new products and to get to know myself better in general. I welcome everyone interested in beauty, happiness, and life. Whether you are trying to find out what the latest hits are or just trying to love yourself in this beautiful and hectic life we are all blessed with, I invite you to read my blog. I’m very active on all of my social media platforms and hope to improve each one this semester. I primarily focus on beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I have Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and a YouTube channel.
